Pickleball is played by two teams who each serve a ball. A point is awarded to the team that scores the most points by hitting the ball over the net. They must aim the ball at their opponent's side. They must also let the ball bounce at least once before hitting it into the net. If they fail to do this, they will be outbounds and awarded a points to the opposing team.

You must be 18 to play. They must also provide their pickleballs. They must follow the rules and courtesies on the tennis court. There are five basic rules, including the non-volley zone, serving/service sequence, line calls, and double bounce.

The non-volley zones, also known by the kitchen, are seven feet from each end of the court's net. This area is usually lined with water bottles and chairs. Players may enter the area at any time but must be accompanied of a player of the same skill level or higher.

Pickleball's most important rule is the non-volley area. This helps to keep the game running smoothly. This rule is in effect even when the volley is dead. However, this rule does not apply when the player hits the ball with a ground stroke.

Pickleball uses lighter balls than other outdoor sports which use large, heavy balls. This allows for precise shots. While the official pickleball is typically yellow, it can be any color. It should measure between 2.874 inches and 2.972 inches. Using the proper tennis sneakers is important. These sneakers shouldn't leave marks on your court.

The kitchen is another important area on the pickleball court. Aside from the non-volley zone, the kitchen is an area where players can drop markers to indicate where they are. If the team is not playing volley, the kitchen is where they can drop pickleballs.

Pickleball is governed by many other rules. For example, it is important to wear proper attire. Inappropriate clothing can be dangerous and camouflages the sport. Using improper footwear, such as rollerblades, is also prohibited.

Another rule is the "double bounce". This rule prevents points being shortened too quickly. Before the ball may be passed over a net, it must bounce twice. This rule is designed to encourage decision-making. It means that if a ball is missed, you forfeit a point.

Finally, the "serve/service sequence" rule is another important rule. A player can either serve the ball with their right hand, or serve the ball underhanded. In most cases the serve will go to your right. Thus, a player who serves the ball left-handed must place it in the opponent’s left service area.
